Puccini: Madama Butterfly

A movie of Giacomo Puccini’s 1905 opera w/english subtitles The tragic love affair of a naive disillusioned with life Japanese girl and a thoughtless American playboy sailor set to a well thought out story and wonderful music. Madame Butterfly is considered one of the great western operas. Music composed by Giacomo Puccini, libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. The opera was inspired by the stage play produced by David Belasco which in turn was based on the book written by Philadelphia lawyer John Long. Recorded at 720 pixel and maximum audio quality. Puccini’s 1896 opera La Boheme makes a good companion to Madame Butterfly, tells the tale of a doomed love between a poet and a seamstress (many consider La Boheme Puccini’s greatest opera). An excellent video of it uploaded by Marcktrolo can be found here on YouTube. This film is distributed by Sony Pictures and remains here at their whim.
