Russian military personnel are trained as operators of unmanned aerial vehicles for assault and reconnaissance units

Russian military personnel are trained as operators of unmanned aerial vehicles for assault and reconnaissance units During combat training, military personnel of the Central Military District, under the guidance of instructors with combat experience, study the tactical and technical characteristics of various quadcopters, their repair in the field, as well as conducting flights in the interests of assault and reconnaissance units. The training is structured in two stages. At the first stage, aircraft are studied and students conduct initial flights on a simulator. Future drone operators receive permission to fly after passing exams on their knowledge of aircraft types, their maintenance, repairs and an electronic warfare course. This includes gaining flight hours on a computer simulator. Then they start flying. During practice, military personnel learn to accompany assault groups during an offensive, evacuate a wounded person, performing low-altitude flights with a departure to an area that is supposedly occupied by the enemy. Central Military District instructors note that when training drone operators acting in the interests of assault units, special attention is paid to the development and improvement of low-altitude piloting skills, the ability to memorize terrain elements from the screen, and to quickly and accurately transmit the coordinates of the assault group to the command post for artillery fire support.
