Royal Horse Guards Teach Horses To Swim (1910-1919)

Royal horse guards teach horses to swim. Location of events unknown. Horses; training. Horse Guards lined up; doing sword drill on horseback; in which they lunge forward; point swords up; down; etc Guards; now wearing long overcoats w/ bare legs sticking out(which makes them look like the classic dirty old men pervert in a raincoat) walk along leading horses. Riding horses into the Thames river — the riders in old-fashioned swimsuits or shorts. Shots of horses swimming across - and at least 1 turning around. CU horse and man pose for camera; the man is patting horse’s muzzle a horse refusing to go in; he keeps turning up the bank. Then he finally plunges ahead into river and the rider falls off. MS a rowboat in the river; w/ the fallen guard swimming to it; and on other side another guard on a horse; w/man in uniform standing in boat holding rope tied to horse —3 other guys (in swimsuit; long shorts; and very brief shorts) standing up in the boat; rowing— the whole scene looks like chaos.
