Climate disaster in India !! Devastating landslides and floods in Mumbai !

Heavy rain caused chaos late Sunday night in India’s financial capital Mumbai. Many areas were flooded, more than 250 mm of precipitation fell in 24 hours. The rain caused many landslides, which destroyed cars and houses. To date, 31 people have died in accidents involving landslides and collapsing walls. Rescue work continued throughout the night, with workers digging through the mud and debris to find survivors. Mumbai’s water supply was also affected by the flooding of the sewage treatment plant. Mumbai, a city of 12 million people, has regular heavy rains from July to September during the rainy season. Rain often causes buildings to collapse, especially in poorer areas with poorly built houses. In central India, extreme rainfall tripled between 1950 and 2015, according to a study by local scientists, leaving hundreds of thousands of people vulnerable to risks.
