Motley And Melody No 3 (1930)

“Warner Brothers Present - Motley and Melody - A pot-pourri of patter, comedy and melody.“ Two “turns“. Introducing Max and Harry Nesbitt. Sound is missing for the first 50 seconds. This transfer is slightly out of synch. Entertainers Max and Harry perform a couple of songs. The first sees them in suits and bow ties. One of them plays a ukulele (and the other a banjolele?). There is also a bit of banter between them. The second song sees them blacked up and dressed as stereotypical “cannibals“ with grass skirts which have bananas hanging off them. One of them announces the song as “Our Well Known Zululand Song.“ They dance around in front of a straw hut. May be politically incorrect but quite funny if you are in the right mood. It is a very fast song so is difficult to make out most of the words. Second item is a barber shop quartet - “The Maestro Singers“ singing a medley. Sweet Adeline.
