Mermaid Game Progress Update 2

Continuation of previous progress video showing new features and updates completed in the last few months, as before just a note to say this is a very early preview just to show progress and hopefully gain interest for a later release (hopefully towards the end of 2023 but there is so much still to do so lets see how it goes). There are bugs here and there and its unfinished, many things are currently placeholders which will be improved on later. The most requested feature in the comments on the last video was for character selection and customization. This is now in and shown in this video. There is a Merman and Mermaid to pick from as well as ability to change some colours (hair, body, tail, eyes) as this feature is now in this can be extended on as needed in the future. Mermaid/Merman transform will possibly be a quest reward that must be collected before you can transform otherwise regular human swim is used. As a Human there is also an oxygen limitation where you will lose health and die if you stay underwater for too long, this is removed as you gain the transformation ability. The bow weapon has been extended with a few different types, some with special abilities others without and have different levels of damage, these will be quest rewards for progressing through the story. The Parkour system has been extended with ladder and pole climbing/sliding, wall running has also been added as well as huge improvements in IK and motion warping. Clipping issues have been addressed and I have packed in a few more fish and sea decorations for this video. New menu level added and some UI updates. The start of the quest system has been added, currently supporting tracking of quests for defeat x enemies, go to location x, speak to person x, retrieve items xyz with all the usual core and side quest functionality and cutscenes. lots of fixes in the background and performance enhancements but still a long list ahead for fixes and new features before i can begin on the world and quest building. For the next video I’m hoping I can show some water surface and foliage interaction with the player, as well as the start of the underwater kingdom and maybe some underwater player building and enemy sharks. Sorry I still have no idea what I’m going to call the game, also there are no plans right now past a PC first release. Once PC release is complete and stable if the game does well ill look to what is possible after that but if I take on too much ill never finish anything. Mobile certainly would be a completely different game as they are not suitable for the graphics and controls of this game. Thanks for all the support for the last video and interest shown in this project, I love to read your comments and ideas, please keep them coming :)
