This band was formed in 2000 first under the name ’Parva’ consisting of singer Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew ’Whitey’ White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick ’Peanut’ Baines and drummer Nick Hodgson who was replaced by Vijay Mistry in 2013. After their first record deal fell through they reformed as ’Kaiser Chiefs’, named after a South-African football club. In 2005 they released their debut album ’Employment’ which reached #2 in the UK album charts and was certified 5-times platinum with 3 singles of it reaching the Top 10 in the UK. The album was highly praised by critics and won several awards like the NME award for ’best album’. In 2007 they released their 2nd album ’Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ and reached #1 in the UK and the Netherlands. It was certified double platinum in the UK.
