France under Hurricane Tammy, Guadeloupe. Hurricane Tammy hit the French Caribbean island department of Guadeloupe. It caused heavy rains which led to severe flooding. The hurricane hit the department with wind speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour. There was significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. Electrical poles were cut down, leaving 80 percent of the population without electricity. The drinking water system was also damaged. A couple of roads were simply washed away by floodwaters.
