Part 1 - on hackbuts or wall guns - series on making a medieval firearm #medievalgunfounder

This is the English version. The German version can be found here: This mini-series is about the reconstruction of a medieval firearm, more precisely a late medieval hackbut or wall gun. After the #handgonne appeared in the late 14th century it did take not long until the Hakenbüchsen were developed. Heavier firearms to be used from fortified positions. In cooperation with the Salder Museum of the city of Salzgitter, where the find shown here is kept, a functional reconstruction is to be made. What are wall guns? When did wall guns first appear? What are they made of? These are just a few of the questions that a reconstruction is about. What sources can help us? Are there any other sources besides the finds? My thanks to: Alfred’s Luftaufnahmen for permission to use parts of his drone footage!
