The East is Red (Chinese Maoist Song)

’The East is Red’ is a revolutionary communist song written during the Second Sino-Japanese War and adapted from a Shaanxi folk song about love. Its lyricist, Li Youyuan, allegedly got inspiration from witnessing the sun rising in the early morning.
