“Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed“ (1926, dir. Lotte Reiniger)

A poetic fairy tale in silhouette animation. Lotte Reiniger cut the figures out of black cardboard with a pair of scissors, and joined movable parts with thread in order to animate them. Experimental avant-garde filmmaker Walter Ruttmann collaborated on the special effects. Some of the techniques he used are similat to his work on his “Opus“ series.
