1981 | - 9. ADAC Bavaria-Rennen Salzburgring | Division 1: The 100th ever race of DRM.

“The 100th DRM race: A good entry, a full house - but lots of rain. Division 1 Heavy rain made the Division 1 race a mess. After the start, Wollek nearly lost it and was hit by Henzler, who half spun and came to a standstill across the track. Then Walch slammed into the BASF M1, blinded by the spray. Henzler was hurt and brought to hospital, where his broken hand and foot were treated. The race was stopped and restarted. The Wollek car was repaired but had no chance against “rainmaster” Stuck who walked away with the race - despite being stuck in fifth gear for the last part of the race. When Winkelhock retired after a puncture slammed his radiator into pieces, Lässig finished on the podium unexpectedly with his Group 4 BMW M1. Division 2 Despite practice problems, Heyer could keep up with Ludwig and he even was taking the lead for seven laps but Ludwig was able to put things right. While Müller Jr complained of his engine and only finished fifth, Hamelmann had a fine weekend and finished third. Niedzwiedz retired, as usual - this time the flywheel broke.“ Frank De Jong, March 4th 1959 - March 10th 2018
