Steve Smith plays Choreography In Six - Paris Bag’Show 2023

On October 29, 2023, I performed a 40 minute set at Bag’Bag Show in Paris, organized by the drum shop La Baguetterie. The entire experience of being in Paris for a few days, hanging with some fantastic drummers and getting to play for a sold out audience of over 1,000 people at Le Trianon Theatre was a high point of 2023 for me. I played some solo pieces and also played to some tracks of the latest Vital Information album TIME FLIES which features Manuel Valera on keyboards and Janek Gwizdala on bass. This is CHOREOGRAPHY IN SIX written by Manuel Valera and me. Last week we posted a soundcheck video where I was thinking of this tune and warming up in 6/4. This performance is similar to what I played on the TIME FLIES album but, of course, with this kind of music there is a lot of improvisation and interpretation. The music is never played the same way twice! The drumset is one of my 30th Anniversary models which lives at the Sonor Factory in Germany.
