Why Did The US Nuke Japan?

On this day in 1945, the US dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki three days after dropping the first nuclear bomb on Hiroshima. The atomic blast killed 100,000 people instantly - almost all of them civilians and forced laborers from Korea and China trafficked by the Japanese army. By the end of 1945, about 230,000 people had died from the effects of the atomic bombs. Watch South Africa’s anti-imperialist President Nelson Mandela interpreting the order to drop the atomic bombs as a threat to US imperialism’s greatest challenger, the Soviet Union, which had emerged victorious from the fight against fascism. #Nagasaki #Hiroshima #AtomicBomb
