CHAINED TO YOU (Maria Daines / Paul Killington) A song from the album ’Shelter Me’ (2009) -------------------------------------------- We decided to write this song to help people understand the need for greater awareness and protection for chained dogs, abandoned dogs, stray dogs, all animals are vulnerable if they are not cared for. A memorial song for Shepp, a sweet German shepherd who died of starvation at the end of a chain that was tightly fastened to the poor dog’s neck. Shepp was rescued by animal welfare in Corpus Christi, USA, in September 2008. Unfortunately, Shepp lost his fight for life shortly after he was rescued. Shepp was a dog that had been left for a month to die without food or water and chained to the point where the collar cut into the skin. No one cared. Neighbors saw him suffer, but no one did anything until it was too late. Someone put food beside him, but by then he was too weak to even stand up. Someone contacted kztv a news, a station that advocates for people and animals. Shep
