I got into the music business at a very young age. I started busking at farmers markets and local open mics when I was 12, crossed the country to be on a reality TV show at 15, then experienced the ups and downs of a major label for 2 years, before finally going independent at 18 and self-releasing my next 2 albums. All of that was pretty stressful and one of the people that shielded me from a lot of the stress was my mom. She handled a lot so that I could still have a childhood and could focus on my music.
