It was part of the curriculum of the Rikugun Toyama Gakkō, a military academy of that time. The practice was established by selecting five out of the sword techniques of many ancient schools, which were then simplified in order to make them easier to understand. Real “Tameshigiri” cutting training was also added. Those techniques are all fundamentally performed standing. After World War II, the Imperial Army disappeared and with it, the original Toyama Academy, but the school survived, although it was divided into 3 different branches, due to a disagreement between different teachers. Professor Nakamura Taizaburo (who passed away on May 2003, the 13th), who dedicated his entire life to the Way of the Sword, continued to seek to improve it after the War, and with “Kesagiri” cut as a core, he reorganized the curriculum into eight techniques. Thus, they are rational sword techniques, performed from a natural stance. 1- Zenmen no Teki (facing the opponent) ; 2- Migi no Teki (opponent on the right) ; 3- Hidari no Teki (opponent on the left) ; 4- Ushiro no Teki (opponent behind) ; 5- Zenmen no Teki Sanbon (facing 3 opponents) ; 6- Ushiro - Mae no Teki (opponents front and behind) ; 7- Migi - Hidari - Mae no Teki (opponents on the right, left and front) ; 8- Suemonogiri (real cutting). --- CREDITS --- Footage by Seido Co., Ltd.
