The Active Volcano in Hawaii; Hualalai

One of the most densely populated sections of the big island of Hawaiian just happens to be on top of young lava flows from a highly active volcano. This volcano is known as Hualalai, which last produced an eruption from 1800 to 1801. If you fly into the Kona International Airport, you land on top of this recent lava flow. The 1800-1801 eruption was merely the most recent example of a flank eruption from Hualalai, which tend to occur every 200 to 300 years.
