During the strikes in the Sumy region, the Russians used a heavy ODAB-1500 bomb for the first time against the AFU, reports Julian Röpcke. A Volumetric Detonating Aerial Bomb (ODAB) is a Soviet-era thermobaric projectile that releases a flammable liquid in the form of an aerosol about 10 meters before hitting and igniting the target. This is known as a volumetric explosion. This type of ammunition is more lethal than conventional ammunition. So far, the Russian Armed Forces have used ODABs, but with a smaller mass: from 170 to 500 kilograms. Source: Lord Of War
