UCI World Championships Gran Fondo 2022 Trento, first climb (45-49).

First climb of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships 2022 in Trento - Italy for my age category 45-49. I started off (way) too quickly and had to recover. My goal was to stay with the group until the tunnel because I knew the climb would flatten out, but I completely destroyed myself in the process. I did my best 10 minute power of about 380 watt of this season during the beginning of the race which is insane. Fortunately my talents are to be able to recover well and to die slowly. I managed to descent quickly and return in a big group in the valley. The second climb went really well (same VAM as the first climb) and I overtook a lot of people there. I did suffer a bit of cramps from all those efforts in the remainder of the race, yet managed to do the third and last climb within a minute of my second climb effort. With a last quick descent and strong sprint to the line I finally came in as 25th and first of my country. Was a tough day in the pain cave, but one to remember! Age: 45 Weigh
