Why individual actions will not solve the climate crisis
An excerpt from an interview with Mo Gawdat, for the SlowMo podcast.
“Repeat after me: individual actions will not solve the climate crisis 🙅♀️
Narratives such as “technology will save us“ and “it’s up to individuals to change their habits“ are just as insidious as outright climate denial.
We must keep our attention on where power lies, and the institutions with a vested interest in maintaining business as usual.
It’s not scary to talk about systemic change. It IS scary to pretend there’s hope in another 10 years of incrementalism.
Grateful as ever for my (conversation) partner in crime, Mo Gawdat.“
