Dental Implant Procedure - Two Stage

Dental Implant Procedure - Two Stage In a 2 stage dental implant placement situation the dental implant is placed and a cover screw is placed on top of it. the gum tissue is placed over it and the implant is not seen. After a few months the implant is exposed and a healing cap is then placed on the implant and the tissue allowed to heal around it. The advantage of the two stage treatment is that there is less chance of infection and implant failure. The disadvantage is that it takes longer for the treatment and involves two surgeries as opposed to one.
