? It is symbolic that our meeting is taking place on the United Nations Day. On October 24, 1945, the UN Charter came into force, and for nearly eight decades its principles have been the foundation of intergovernmental relations and international law.
️ The UN is called upon to continue playing a central role in maintaining peace and security, promoting sustainable and steady development. At the same time, we believe that for the UN to function effectively in the future, its structure must be adapted to the realities of the XXI century. This includes expanding representation in the UN Security Council and other key bodies for Asian, African, and Latin American countries, including those, whose leaders are present in this room. The reform of UN development institutions and global financial structures has also been long overdue.
