Logging In The Tyrol (1947)

Kramsach, Tyrol (Tirol), Austria LS and MS Lumberjacks with pickaxes at a logging station, hacking away supports to release huge stacks of logs which roll down the slope into the river. (6 shots). LS Pan across reservoir to wooden cabin. CU Two men turn a wheel which releases the water from a dam. MS and LS The gates of the dam open with water flooding through. MS and LS Under the impetus of the rush of released water the logs are carried down the narrow river. (4 shots). LS The timbers are hauled ashore by men with hooked poles when they reach their destination at Kramsach. (4 shots). Note: There is a German commentary. Dramatic footage of huge piles of logs crashing downhill into a river, then the dam water hurling the logs through narrow ravines.
