Here’s Run Through the Jungle by Creedence Clearwater Revival from 1970. What an awesome song by CCR! A dreamy groove that has you almost hypnotised from the start, powerful lyrics and two brooding and biting guitar solos delivered by Matt. Who doesn’t love CCR and here’s another reason why!! Often misunderstood as a Vietnam protest song, we can see why with some of the lyrics pointing in that direction. But research tells us that the song is actually about the proliferation of guns in the United States. In a 2016 interview John Fogerty explains... The thing I wanted to talk about was gun control and the proliferation of guns... I remember reading around that time that there was one gun for every man, woman and child in America, which I found staggering. So somewhere in the song, I think I said, ’200 million guns are loaded.’ Not that anyone else has the answer, but I did not have the answer to the question; I just had the question.
