“The Crown is Shattered Asunder“ (White Resistance Song) — English subs and translation

Soviet Union, 1965 Donate & Support: A song by the famous Russian bard Vladimir Vysotsky, performed on behalf of the White resistance during the 1917 revolution and the Russian civil war. It mixes nostalgia for a lost country and hatred for everything that came to replace it in an unusual way, leaving no choice for any honest person of those years — either to fight the reign of godlessness and violence, or to put a bullet in the temple. This song is often associated with the film “Two Comrades Were Serving“, where Vysotsky brilliantly played a Russian White officer Lieutenant Brusentsov, but in fact it was written for the play “Ten Days That Shook the World“ based on the book by American revolutionary Jack Reed, who witnessed the events of 1917 in Russia. This song, although written in Soviet times, can be considered a true anthem of White Guard resistance organizations such as the Brotherhood of Russian Truth, whose flag was chosen for the preview of this video. Portrayed by the author and perfomer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky (1938—1980), playing Lieutenant Brusentsov, a White Guards officer from the “Two Comrades Were Serving“ movie (1968).
