Deliver Great HDR Content on YouTube

Creating images for shows like Planet Earth II or Our Planet in Dolby Vision takes serious equipment! HDR Mastering monitors can cost $30,000 or more. The barrier to creating such content is often the display. But for those that would like to experiment with HDR grading on YouTube, there have been questions about the use of the LG OLED TV’s such as the C9 and CX. Can such relatively low cost solutions be used? The short answer is Yes! Keeping in mind a few simple limitations, you can color grade HDR nicely on a calibrated LG WOLED and get excellent results. This allows YouTube consumers with their own HDR TV’s and latest iPhones to accurately see your intent in HDR, while also allowing those with SDR to get a reasonable representation with one upload.
