Restoration of Caucasian SHASHKA - RETURN to Serve

Hello folks! Today I will show you a restoration with a very interesting ending and a test. This thing is called a Caucasian-style shashka (to make it clearer, but this is not a saber), in this style the handle is sheathed to the pommel necessarily. Well, let’s start restoring the item! The first duty, I dismantled something similar to the “handle“ and placed the blade in a rust remover. After cleaning, I found interesting ornaments on the blades and began careful manual grinding. After that, I moved on to lengthening the shank, because it broke during the grinding process (by the way, very well) because I made a new and more reliable one. Then completion, I moved on to creating a handle made of beech wood. After shaping the handle I needed, I glued it together and used wooden pins. Therefore, there was still a long processing ahead of me. After the handle was ready, I used washers and steel pins. The handle is riveted under the washers for a secure fastening. I changed the appearance of the handle and aged it. I made the wooden scabbard for the checkers out of linden. I made the accessories for the scabbard out of brass and steel and hid them under thin black genuine leather. This is one of the versions of the Caucasian type scabbard, when all the accessories were hidden by leather. And for you today I have prepared a wonderful, colorful and wonderful test.
