Harju ridge evening song (Harjun iltasoitto)

Since 1976 Vesilinna tower that serves as a water and observation tower has been an essential part of the soundscape in Jyväskylä. People living near the area know that this song, ’Laulu synnyinseudulle’ (’A Song for the Native Place’, composed by Aulis Raitala, played with trumpet by Torsten Lindfors), is played from the Vesilinna observation tower in the summer at 8 pm. It really is a sign of summer. Video: Sini Tirronen
