Buy the track or whole album here This is a protest song curated by Volk Makedonski about the illegal and corrupt way that the Republic of Macedonia were forced to change their constitutional name. The corrupt SDSM political party that took control and became the government and then capitulated to the demands of neighbouring states/EU/USA and signed the Prespa Agreement that the majority of Macedonian citizens and large diaspora did not agree too and boycotted the ratification process. The constitution was still changed through pressure and corruption! NEVER NORTH! Historical context- The ancient land of Macedonia Europe’s first nation state and the birthplace of Alexander the Great, founder of the first European world empire is in peril. After two thousand years of being an integral part of the Roman, Ottomans and other Balkan kingdoms, was in 1913 divided up between its recently established neighbours Greece Bulgaria and Serbia. After world war 2 approximately 1/3 of Macedonia was a founding Republic of the socialist federation of Yugoslavia and the Macedonians of Greek occupied Macedonia (also know as Aegean Macedonia) lost the battle to join their people for freedom and to this day remain an un-recognised minority without the most basic human rights. After the break up of Yugoslavia Macedonia proclaimed it’s freedom only to become a de-facto American vassal state. However despite being a willing pro western NATO member its very existence was seen as a threat to both Greece and Bulgaria whose Macedonian minorities looked at the new state as their protector and inspiration and therefore had to be destroyed. The process of destruction was planned and executed by the western powers and Macedonia was forced to change its name to North Macedonia and renounce the existence of our fellow Macedonians that are living in Bulgaria and Greece as oppressed minorities. We Macedonians throughout the world will never accept the legitimacy of that name and its implications that there is no such people as Macedonians. We will continue the struggle for our nation and the human rights of our people. Never North!
