INSIDE UKRAINE: Territorial Defense vs Ukraine Army Training Observations

In Will Killmore’s latest update from #Ukraine, he discusses some of the training that #GSMSG is providing the Ukrainian soldiers and Territorial Defense units. In an interesting contrast, Will describes some of the differences in ’kit’ and attitude between the TDF (Veteran Reserve Militia) and Ukraine (Regular) Army soldiers. While the contrast of attitude’s between the two won’t be foreign to US/Allied Veterans, an interesting point is the availability of nicer gear to the Reserve element (probably due to donations, self-purchase, etc.). Reserve forces in the West are still operating with ACU-pattern gear, old-style kevlar helmets, and I’ve even seen a few Vietnam-era load-bearing vests at recent range days. Will’s point is a profound one, though, all the kit from the best companies in the world doesn’t do you a single bit of help if your head isn’t right.
