The heart of the Octagram is a searing, Hendrix-ian analog octave-fuzz tone, but with an unusually prominent octave component that can be summoned virtually anywhere on the guitar neck, and with any pickup. In typical Fowl Sounds fashion, the Octagram also has gobs of gain and volume at hand, pushing it well beyond vintage territory, and well into the gnar zone. The Sludge Boost features clipping diodes smashed in between a pair of JFET boost circuits, with prodigious gain and output to dish out all the damage your amp can handle. Despite its name, the Sludge Boost has tremendous clarity, as well as a subtle, warm compression that makes it welcome in all manner of non-sludge musical scenarios. Add its finely tuned dual-band, Hyper Fuzz-style EQ, and it is quite a force to be reckoned with. In this demo, I put the Fowl Sounds 187 Series Octagram Fuzz and Sludge Boost to work on both bass and guitar in a gnarly noise rock context, then I dig into the controls of each to show you the full potential of these massive tone manglers.
