Swan Couple Performs Exquisite Courtship Dance on Florida Lake

pair of mute swans were seen performing a graceful mating ritual on Lake Morton in Lakeland, Florida. Video filmed by Michelle Siefken, who said she filmed it on January 31, shows the duo engaging in their courtship dance. Two white mute swans from England were released on Lake Morton in 1957, according to the Lake Morton neighborhood website. The couple’s descendants reportedly now populate the city’s many lakes. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, swans form monogamous pair bonds which often last a lifetime.
