I have been watching a lot of entries for this year’s Tiny Desk Contest and wanted to challenge myself this year by not playing any guitar. In this video I am performing a stripped down version of my song “These Static Transmissions“ using 5 second, handmade cassette tape loops. Individual sounds are recorded and performed from the tape loops and then layered/processed through numerous effects in a setup I call the Suitcase of Drone. The resulting music is a tape based, improvised, computerless performance that blurs the genres of ambient, drone, noise, and electronic music.
