Soviet masterpiece “The Legend of Thyl“ ( ) is an adaptation of Charles de Coster’s classic “The Legend of Thyl Ulenspiegel and Lamme Goedzak“ (1867). The movie extensively uses imagery from paintings of the Flemish master Pieter Bruegel the Elder. This one is his famous “The Parable of the Blind“ (. The Blind Leading The Blind).
