I’ll show you major chord endings and minor chord endings. Jazz endings on guitar are neglected by a lot of aspiring guitarists. They learn the chords, head and solo, but when it comes to jazz guitar endings they lack any knowledge. Let’s change that! Because the ending chord is what remains in people’s memeory after the song is over. I’ll show you six (actually more) examples of great ending chords guitar. Three of them are major chord endings and also three minor chord endings. Guitar ending chords have a purpose. They either want to emphasize the last note of the melody, thus the melody as top note in the chord is required, or they just want to provide a particular mood, that is often a little strange and different from the song. Those are often lydian jazz guitar ending chords when its a major ending, or minor major 7th chords for minor endings. I’ll show you each jazz guitar ending chord in detail and there is also an on-screen chord diagram. I’ve wrapped most of them into jazz ending chord progressions, since this is what often happens at the end of a song. We often have a II V I jazz ending. Good voice leading is mandatory, in order to give the listener a little ending melody. We use embellishments and little lines to achieve that. I’ll also show you a neat little trick for your ending chords on guitar, by shifting the ending chord to a different tonality.
