TRON: Ares will be the first entry in the franchise since 2010’s TRON: Legacy, and although it isn’t known if the film is a sequel or a reboot, it will most likely share the same world and story structure as the previous two TRON movies. There are still a lot of questions up in the air about TRON: Ares, but the title does give several hints about the movie’s story and characters. On January 19, 2023, Deadline reported that Joachim Rønning had been hired to direct the film after Garth Davis left the project, with Leto still attached to star. Filming is scheduled to begin in August 2023 in Vancouver, Canada. ] On June 2020 the Walt Disney Studios President of Music & Soundtracks, Mitchel Leib, stated that while the studio hopes that Joe Kosinski will return to the franchise, the studio is currently searching for a director.
