Founded in the 1800’s: “Second Empire” Architecture [1865-1900] in USA & Canada + “Tartary Theories”

Howdy ya’ll. Welcome back. Today were going to focus on Second Empire Architecture of North America. This seldom discussed, yet vastly influential form of building is often considered to fall into the Early Victorian category, however as we dive into some of the most famous photographs of Second Empire buildings, occurring from 1865 through 1900, you will see the architecture appears to derive from the most advanced Old World Buildings found elsewhere in the world. We will also dive into what appears to be the consensus theory on the concept of Tartary in America, and I will interlace those theories (many provided by you) with The Architecture of The Second Empire Style, while pondering if a First Empire existed in America, as opposed to the current narrative, which tells us Second Empire Architecture arises from The Second Empire of France, thus making the buildings we look at today considered “French Revival Second Empire“.  I’d honestly love to hear your opinions on the photographs, the buildings, the advanced technology, and your concept of Tartary and the Old World in the comment section down below. Again, these are only THEORIES, and as we continue to dive into the Old World, our theories are always changing. Hopefully you are entertained, and your mind expanded. Enjoy!  Topics discussed today; (1871) (New_York_City) ,_Syracuse_University
