Mega Man X - Storm Eagle (Neon X remix)

Remix of Storm Eagle theme from Mega Man X on SNES LISTEN ON SPOTIFY - LISTEN ON APPLE MUSIC - LISTEN ON AMAZON - LISTEN ON DEEZER - Incoming massive description! This theme is a classic from one of the best games on SNES! I already had a vision of how my next remix would sound like, no matter what song I chosed. And the story is kind of important for understanding why it sounds like this, which is far from the original. So here it goes: I was at my friend’s daughter’s graduation (she’s also my goddaughter) recently and drove there by car, about four hours drive from my home. My friend’s parents and some others were also there. And the thing about it is that his parents is kind of my bonus parents, we’ve known each other since I was 3 years old back in the late 80s. I hadn’t seen them for so many years, and a lot of feelings and memories hit me hard which also put me in a special mood, in a positive way, but also sad in another way with nostalgia and a bit melancholy. I love them all so much, and it was so hard driving home to my own family knowing that I don’t know when I will see my bonus family again. On the way home I listened to my usual kind of music when I hit the road - synthwave, retrowave (like The Midnight, FM-84, Ollie Wride, Sunglasses Kid and so on, even some of my own music). I heard the song City Dreams by The Midnight, which is an interlude from the album Monsters. And I couldn’t stop listening to it, I had to repeat it for like 30 minutes. Then I decided that no matter what song I choose to remix next, it will be heavily inspired by City Dreams. And here it is. A bit repetitive and much ambient, but it reflects the feelings from the graduation and the people I met there, and I just had to express it somehow. Still in the same mood as I write this, about four days after driving home but it releases slowly from me. I wish I could find a spoken quote like: “It’s not about the song itself, but the story behind it“ But I didn’t find anything. Would have totally sampled that into this remix. Other than that, I don’t think I ever spent so many hours on a remix as on this one, believe it or not :P The music (chords/melodies, harmonies etc) wasn’t hard, it was the sounds. I really had to modify and experiment with different synthezisers and digital instruments to get the sounds I imagined. A completely new bass, a new pluck, a new percussion for the drums, panning of the lead synth when playing harmonies (didn’t need this in other remixes), adjusting decay for a massive reverb in some parts. Also, the art for this video took me forever. I found a cool cityscape background I based it on. Then found a photo of a Mega Man plastic toy which I tried to blend in with the right lights and shadows, he needed to stand with his back turned towards the screen. Then an awesome model of Storm Eagle from: Wanted to catch that synthwave style and make it somehow clean, the only visual details is kind of what you see from the cityscape. I made it in Photoshop.
