Seiko Automatics Self Winding System Alignment, Why Does It Matter?

When a Seiko Automatic movement is rebuilt the First reduction wheel and Oscillating weight have to be correctly aligned for the self winding mechanism to work at it’s optimum efficiency, but what does that mean and does it really make that much difference?
