Don Quixote - Dream Scene (Somova, Obraztsova, Novikova)

Here is a new video, depicting the Dream Scene from the Second of Don Quixote. Here The Don Quixote after being knocked unconcious, while battling the mills, dreams of Dulcinea, Cupid and The Queen of Driads and her followers (Dryads), who were mithycal creatures in greek mythology. The scene which you are about to see, is actually very common for ballets, created in the romantic era (19th century), where the scene is filled with almost entirely with female and one or two male characters. Such scenes are also observable in other ballets from that era, such as Giselle (second act), The Sleeping Beauty (second act), Swan Lake (Second and fourth act), Corsaire (Les Jardines D’anime)... and many more. Alhtough, to be completely honest and fair, most of the ballets, that I just listed and that we know today, were actually choreographed by the same choreographer, Marius Petipa.
