The Monkees- Nine Times Blue on The Johnny Cash Show 1969 (Peter quit 12/68)

An incredible piece of Monkees history! Invited as guests by Johnny Cash himself, The Monkees, now a trio as Peter Tork left in December of 1968. Filmed in the historic Ryman Auditorium (aka “The Grand Ole Opry“) on May 6th, 1969. Michael, David & Micky, down south following their recent concert date in Houston, Texas on May 4th, traveled to Nashville to tape this appearance for “The Johnny Cash Show“, which later aired July 19th on The ABC Network. Starting with Johnny singing, “Last Train To Clarksville“, taken over by The Monkees show version of the hit until Micky protests for something “new“! The trio then do an amazing performance of Nesmith’s “Nine Times Blue“. Johnny then joins The Monkees on one of his hits, “Everybody Loves A Nut“, written by Jack Clement.
