Ikaro by Maestra Innes

Ynes Sanchez Gonzales (63), an (onanya ainbo) shaman woman of the Shipibo people from the Peruvian Amazon, sings a curing song (ikaro). She carried out her first dieta at the age of 15 and learnt how to work with the medicinal plants in order to help people in her community. It was her Grandfather who began teaching her about plant medicines and, after his death, she studied with her uncle, Benjamín. She has been working with us on our ayahuasca retreats at the Temple of the Way of Light since August 2009.
