Making a Sashiko bag with scrap fabrics and old materials #repurpose #sashiko #slowstitching

Thank you for watching! Captions have been added. Also, thank you so much for all your inspiring comments and ideas! This video mainly shows how to make outer panels for a bag with scrap fabric and Sashiko stitches. Here are the measurements of the materials I used in this video (though I don’t think you need to follow them). - 40cmx27cm outer panels and inner panels (including a 1cm seam allowance). 2 pieces each. I used a pillow case for the outer panels and some scrap fabric for the inner panels (lining) I cut off 4cm squares at the bottom corners. - 2 pieces of 7cmx32cm fabric for the handles I folded them in half first and folded a 1cm seam allowance on each side. The handle width is (about 1 inch). I attached them 10cm apart (5cm from the middle point) . I used Sashiko threads, needles and a thimble for the stitching part. Don’t worry even if you haven’t tried Sashiko before and don’t have any tools. I have a video showing the basic tools and their substitutes. You can start from something you have before buying all the tools. The thimble I used in this video is very useful when you stitch a long running stitch. Mine is handmade one.
