Learn Voice Online with Berklee:
A common vocal technique and style used in R&B is the slide. Instead of attacking the note straight on the pitch, the singer will usually start at a semitone lower and slide their way up. In this video from the Berklee Online course Improvisation Techniques for Singing Pop and R&B, author Gabrielle Goodman teaches you how to approach this style of singing, practicing over the Etta James classic, “At Last.”
