The Context of Antisemitism and Islamophobia in France

On November 2, 2018, the Center for Middle East Studies hosted a discussion with Dr. Paul Silverstein, professor of anthropology at Reed College, Dean Pardis Mahdavi, and Professor Rachel Esptein regarding the theme of secularism in France and its connection to issues of antisemitism and Islamophobia in French society. Dr. Silverstein drew upon material from his most recent book, Postcolonial France: Race, Islam and the Future of the Republic, published by Pluto Press.
