SpaceX will launch the the third operational mission of its Crew Dragon vehicle as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Transportation Capability Program (CCtCap), carrying three NASA astronauts, and one ESA astronaut to the International Space Station. This mission will be the third operational crewed flight to launch from the United States since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011. Previously, the SpaceX DM-2, Crew-1, and Crew-2 missions utilized the Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon’s ability to safely transport crew to the space station. The Crew-2 astronauts returned from the International Space Station earlier this week. The Crew Dragon and Falcon 9 are now certified for human spaceflight. This mission will last approximately six months in duration and the crew will return to Earth sometime around April 2022.
