It is on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines. Kitay-gorod is one of the four stations within the Moscow Metro network providing a cross-platform interchange (besides Kuntsevskaya, Tretyakovskaya and Kashirskaya). Until November 1990, the station was called Ploshchad Nogina (Nogin Square), for the square that was named in honor of Viktor Nogin, the prominent Bolshevik. After the city renamed the southern part of Ploshchad Nogina to Ploshchad Varvarskiye Vorot, the station was renamed for the historic Kitai-gorod area (Moscow_Metro) #moscow #metro
