Russia’s Putin will work on ’normalize’ Afghanistan, boosting security with his Tajik counterpart - YouTube

Russian President Putin was greeted Tuesday in his first known overseas visit since Ukraine Conflict by his Tajik counterpart and long-time ally Emomali Rahmon. Putin emphasized the security issues were among the major topics between the two Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) states. Putin also voiced his willingness to work actively with Tajik side to “improve“ the security situation at Tajikistan’s porous 1,357-kilometer (843-mile) border with Afghanistan. With some 7,000 Russian troops on its territory, Tajikistan is Moscow’s largest base abroad. After Tajik visit, Putin will attend a summit of Caspian nations in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan.
