Got My Eyes On You - “Roadracers.“ (Minimal Dialogue / Ambient Sound)

From Robert Rodriguez’s “Roadracers” 1994 - “Got My Eyes On You” This is a little blues / burlesque groove we worked up for two scenes back-to-back where Dude (David Arquette) is picking up Donna (Salma Hayek) at her parent’s for a date. That first scene cuts to the two of them cruising in Dude’s car down the main drag while Donna does a sort of mock striptease while sitting atop the seats. She slides down in the seat while Dude fiddles with a portable record player. In the film there is dialogue as they as they drive and talk about their plans for the night. This version from my Showtime Studio CD has dialogue only at top (first scene) and just music and vocals from there on. So, it’s a version only me, Johnny Reno, Robert Rodriguez and a very few others have heard till now. This song is a good illustration of how Johnny and I worked together. I came up with the guitar phrase and drum pattern / shuffle. Johnny came up with the bass line which I played on my Roland JV-80. The drums were done with my trusty
